If you’re new to making money online then the chances are one of four things is going to happen to you –
You’ll get overloaded with information
You’ll start one or more projects and never finish them
You’ll buy products and services that don’t work
You’ll start projects that won’t ever make you money
This is the reality of everyone’s first few months (or years) trying to make money online. You’ll probably get frustrated, annoyed, distracted, you’ll run about like a headless chicken trying to find the gold at the end of an invisible rainbow. We’ve all been there and from time to time many of us slip back there as well. However, if you’re new to making money online there are some rules to absolutely live by;
1. Don’t buy anything
This is simple – there is a huge wealth of information out there that you can get for free and learn from free. In fact the quality of information already out there far exceeds what most crappy eBooks, courses, insider scoops, secret techniques can or will ever tell you. Ignore all this stuff completely and focus on RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. The only things I would recommend even considering buying in your first few months are a domain name and hosting. That’s it nothing else NO NO NO NO NO – got that?
Don’t get me wrong – as you go along you might want to pick up the occasional course but mainly I’d focus on buying tools and services – things with direct, tenable value to your online aspirations.
2. Choose one strategy to start
The people I know who have had the most success online have started on one aspect of making money online and have mastered it. Whether you want to focus on affiliate marketing, product review websites, PPC advertising, service sales, ebook creation – whatever. Stick to one thing, learn everything and master it before you move on.
3. Don’t expect quick returns
Barring a few rare exceptions – The only people that make $50,000 dollars 6 months after starting in internet marketing or making money online are SCAMMING, TWO FACED, LYING CHEATING, SCUMBAGS. Don’t be one don’t become one but also don’t expect results overnight. If you want to build a sustainable business and a profitable one it is going to take time……period.
4. Research, Learn and Learn
There’s so much to be said about learning and researching that I’m mentioning it again. Keep learning everything you can and keep testing out every technique you can on your chosen speciality!
5. Set yourself Goals and stick to them
When you’re starting out online you need to set goals as motivation is one of the hardest things when you’re working off your own back. Don’t be ridiculous and say you’ll write 15 articles a day – you might be able to for one day but not continuously. Set yourself clear goals and measure your success based on output and learning – not just on results!
I could go on but really I wanted to reinforce these core messages. There’s plenty of free information out there and you don’t need to always feel like you’re missing some vital piece of the make money online puzzle. There are opportunities aplenty online and you’ll never stop once you get started.
